In many lectures, Steiner spoke about our etheric body was once outside the bounds of our physical body. During the Greek cultural age, it became entirely within the bounds of the physical. That was needed for individual intelligence and for the sense of being separate from everything else. This feeling of separation from the spiritual world and from other physical beings was necessary for the development of Freedom. Then came the MoG. Now, since 1900, the etheric body has begun, gradually, to loosen from being embedded in the physical. Our consciousness is in our astral body and it uses our etheric body. While the etheric was embedded in the physical, materialism ruled. As awareness of etheric body perceptions begin to take place, we will become aware that our etheric body has the opposite gender from our physical body. For some, lacking spiritual science, this awareness will seem very confusing. Some may be told that you are only one gender when one's etheric is the opposite of the physical and one's astral is both! Seeking to be just one gender throughout can lead to future problems. The "birth" of our etheric body is at, roughly, age 6 (our 7th year). Before that, we "used" our mother's etheric body. The astral is birthed at age 13. Sexuality naturally grows then. Will gender issues become worse? What might Anthroposophy do to help with this current issue?
