Drop picture method

The so-called Drop picture method was developed by Theodor Schwenk (1910–1986) in 1967 as a way to show the vital characteristics of water.

The test uses the hydrodynamics of water to analyze water quality by revealing the water's quality in an objective qualitative way. The natural flow behaviour of water is an expression that optically reveals water's holistic characteristics, as small differences in quality result in changes of the internal flow structures and overall flow pattern. By photographing movement-forms of a given water sample, the Drop-picture Method provides an objective image correlated with water quality.

The challenge lies in the study and analytical interpretation to correlate optical patterns with an understanding of the characteristics of the water sample.
